Using Gmail to Send and Receive Emails

Receiving Email

  1. Login to your Gmail Account.
  2. In the top lefthand corner, open the Settings cog and choose Settings.gmail_gears_settings
  3. Click Accounts and Import.
  4. Click ‘Add a POP3 mail account you own”.
  5. Enter your Email address.gmail_add_account
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Enter your full email address as the Username.
  8. Enter Password for your email account.gmail_pop3_server
  9. Enter the POP Server. This will be your domain name preceded by “mail.” 
  10. Port: 995
  11. Check to Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail.
  12. Choose your label
  13. Click the Add Account button.

Sending Email

    1. Choose ” Yes, I want to be able to send mail as john@example.com”gmail_account_created
    2. Choose if you will use this address as an Alias. (To learn more about Aliases in Gmail please see Googles Knowledge Base Article)gmail_sending_address
    3. Click the Add account button.
    4. Choose “Send through SMTP servers
    5. Enter the POP Server. This will be your domain name preceded by “mail.” 
    6. Port: 465
    7. Username is your full email address
    8. Check Secure connection using SSL
    9. Click Add Account

You now be able to choose which email account a new email is sent from by clicking the tick beside the from email address.

Finding Your email settings in cPanel

  1. Click on “Email Accounts
  2. Click on “More > Configure Email Clientconfigure-email-client
